International Women's Day 2025
We are proud to share the stories of six colleagues who are making a difference in our ports.
Ilse, Anouk, Brenda, Nicol, Emily and Karla highlight the diversity of careers available at CLdN and the positive impact
they are making in their roles.
As Head of Claims, I interact with many aspects of the business. I started in January 2001 as an interim worker in the automotive booking department. In 2005, I moved to the claims department, where my role evolved, allowing me to grow within the company.
When I began, there were very few women working in Zeebrugge. It was a tough, high-energy environment, but also fun. The maritime sector has a pulse, and when it gets your heart racing, you know you're in love with it.
As Head of Claims, I'm not just working for a shipping company or terminal operator. CLdN offers a full-package service, which makes my role unique.. The constant evolution of the business makes this work really challenging and rewarding..
I have spent 19 years working at the Port of Liverpool, and the docks and maritime industry have always been a significant part of my life. In my role as Operations Support Manager, I interact with all aspects of the business to ensure operations run smoothly.
I played a key role in the startup of operations at the Liverpool terminal and have held various positions over the years, from check-in and security to administration and operations. Most recently, I established and now lead the heavy lifting division, where my team oversees port-side logistics for a wide variety of freight..
When I started my career, there were very few women in the industry, but it's fantastic to see more joining the workforce at the Port of Liverpool. I take great pride in working outside, facing the elements daily and keeping the operations running smoothly. I truly feel like one of the team and love what I do!
I’m an Apprentice Maintenance Engineer at Killingholme, working in the Maintenance Workshop.
My role involves repairing large plant and machinery, such as tugmasters, reachstackers, and other port equipment. I find my job both enjoyable and rewarding, learning a lot along the way. I feel supported and well looked after by my colleagues. My team is friendly, and I enjoy the camaraderie.
I appreciate the opportunities to grow in my role, and while there are challenges, I value the learning experience and the fun I have with my team.
I have been with CLdN for 25 years now. I started from booking units into the terminal and then became Freight Shipping Planner, Supervisor, Route Manager and am now the Office Freight Manager; so I have really worked my way through the ranks!
I have never found it difficult working in the port environment and have adapted very well. .
I have had nothing but support from the company and enjoy working for CLdN. As a long serving employee, the company rewards you and acknowledges your continued commitment.
I’m a Terminal Employee and started working here in 2024. I’ve found a great place for myself here, and I truly enjoy every part of my job.
As part of my role, I’m involved in a variety of tasks like driving the bus, scanning, stowing, handling trains, and starting up operations. It’s a job that’s never the same, which is something I really appreciate. There’s so much variety in what I do, and I work with different colleagues every day, which keeps things fresh and exciting.
There’s always a positive vibe in the workplace. Everyone here is helpful, and we all support one another, which makes the job even more enjoyable.
I’ve been working at CLdN for 21 years now, and I can honestly say that it’s been an amazing journey.
For me, working in the harbour is a great experience. I’ve built really strong relationships, and that makes the job even more enjoyable. As I always say, "A day without laughter is a day not lived!" The atmosphere at work is fantastic, and that makes it fun to come in every day.
My job involves a lot of operational tasks, from loading and unloading vessels to working with the toplift. The variety in my daily tasks keeps me motivated and engaged.
I feel lucky to be part of such a great team.
