All shipments between GB and IRE/NI are subject to an Energy Surcharge. This is made up of a Fuel Component and a CO2 Component 

Fuel Component

For UK-EU routes (Liverpool-Dublin and Heysham-Dublin) the Fuel Component is adjusted monthly based on the weighted average index price of a) 98.6% very low sulphur fuel (0.5% sulphur) and b) 1.4% of UCOME 100% biofuel. For UK-UK routes the Fuel Component is adjusted monthly based on the average index price of very low sulphur fuel (0.5% sulphur).

These references are based on the average price for the period 16.12.24 -15.01.25. Costs may rise or fall based on the fuel price, leading to variable monthly charges per metre.

CO2 Component

Shipments on routes in and out of Ireland are subject to an Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) and CO2 surcharge. This CO2 Component is adjusted monthly. The price for February 2025 is based on a CO2 price of EUR €69.83 (Average EEX EUA End of Day Index price in EUR/tonne) for the period 16.12.24 -15.01.25. To reflect the use of 1.4% biofuel on these EU-UK routes, the carbon reference price is reduced by 1%. As a reminder to customers, the EU ETS is adjusted during the EU phase-in period (-30% in 2025) and for routes to/from the UK (a further -50%).

Exchange rates (£/$ and £/€) are also averaged on the period, 16.12.2024 -15.01.2025.
