Within this challenging role, you will analyse existing processes and have significant involvement in developing new projects within the Engineering Department. Our aim is to prepare you for line management by equipping you with the skills and practical experience needed.

 

Your role

  • As part of this programme, you will be expected to study and pass a Level 5 Operations Department Manager Apprenticeship (18 months)

  • To plan, monitor and assess daily workshop tasks i.e. PPM in liaison with Workshop Management structure

  • To lead projects in; safety & quality, with cost effectiveness in mind

  • Coordinate with stakeholders ensuring a unified approach and successful implementation of projects across group Workshops

  • Building and maintaining relationships with our customers and workforce

  • Be a point of contact for external suppliers, internal workshop and terminal staff. 

  • Assist in the implementation of maintenance contracts with third parties into practice

  • To have an involvement in workforce recruitment, training, and People Management processes

  • Assist in the management of existing critical terminal infrastructure, such as RTG cranes which operate the container stack 

  • Support in equipment procurement in consultation with the Workshop Management when required 

  • Undertake comparison studies (technical specifications)

  • Using Company and supplier data manage & preparing KPI’s and management reports

  • Resolving problems with guidance and support from Management

  • To be flexible and travel to other Terminals within the group in order to support and work 

Your profile                                                                          

  • You must have a Technical Degree with a minimum 2:2 e.g. Mechanical or Electrical other technical Degree’s maybe considered

  • To have proven supervisory experience and leadership skills which can be demonstrated with work experience

  • Ability to work on your own initiative and be pro-active and practical in an industrial environment

  • Have great communication skills and build effective working relationships at all levels

  • Will have a full, clean driving licence

  • Will be willing to undertake a Basic Disclosure and Barring (DBS) check

  • Will have excellent IT skills

  • Should have an analytical and forward-thinking approach

  • Must have a passport for travel to European ports and other Terminals within the group
